Are Metafields Used for SEO?

While metafields are different from standard web metadata, Shopify reserves two special metafields for SEO purposes:

Metafield	Purpose
global.title_tag	SEO title (meta title)
global.description_tag	SEO description (meta description)

These system metafields store the meta title and description for:

• Products
• Collections
• Pages
• Blogs

You can edit these SEO metafields directly in Metafield Studio, giving you control over how your resources appear in search engine results.
